#30 Take a Load off our drives

I usually use the P drive. I have used the S drive for submitting calendar information. I do not use the P or Z drive for personal photos. Since I have only been with Harris County Public Library since June 2007, my oldest file is from last summer. I have saved some files to a USB drive.

#29 Email

I usually weed the majority of my emails, but tend to hang unto ones that I refer back to. This exercise taught me to delete emails with attachments. I opened the attachments and saved the documents to the appropriate folder, before deleting. I already have email folders that help me stay organized. I realize the importance of submitting large files to multiple people to the S drive rather than by sending by email.

#28 Spring Cleaning

The GTD steps are effective and know it helps me to review my lists and schedule daily. I already use Google calendar and like the fact that Remember the Milk can be added to it. I plan in advance in order to promote library activities and to complete multi level tasks.

Week 10 #23

What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey?

It was fun creating an avatar with Meez. Library Thing is a great tool.
I enjoyed adding various feeds and having the convenience of looking at one site for information.

How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals?
It supports my goal of learning new technology in order to better serve my patrons, co-workers and family.

Were there any take-aways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
My biggest surprise was the shear vastness of tech tools available that serve as a bridge between people and ideas.

What ideas do you have for using these technologies at Harris County Public Library?
Library Thing could be a useful tool in readers advisory. We can reach patrons in various ways: blogs, social networks, library thing ...

What else do you want to learn about? What other web 2.0 applications are you interested in?
I am interested in learning any applications that will assist me in serving our patrons.

Week 9, # 21 Podcast

I added the following podcast, Hardcore History, to my bloglines account. http://www.dancarlin.com/dchh.xml

I enjoy history and this podcast sounds very interesting!

Week 9, # 20 You Tube

I enjoy the individual work of these musicians, but it is a treat when two distinct talents work together.

I also enjoyed the Seneca Library song. It shows how a library team can work together creatively in promoting the library.
